Save Money - Hughes 500 Helicopter

Many of the newest items for Mobsters have a huge hourly upkeep. The Hughes 500 Helicopter leads the way (other than the Cold War-Era Gunboat) when it comes to hourly upkeep (it also ties with the Small Police Escort). 20 of these helicopters are needed to Raid the Lockheed Research Lab to earn one Exoskeleton.

The helicopter's daily upkeep is nearly three times its cost. If you take a defensive posture or you are only on once a day, consider selling your helicopters and repurchasing them when you return back online. It takes just over eight hours (8 hours x $600,000 upkeep = $4,800,000) to earn the purchase price of a helicopter. So whenever you know you will be away for over eight hours, sell the helicopter and save the money!

Actually its just over 4 hours, as you get 1/2 of the price of the vehicles back, when you sell them. Upkeep is 600,000. Price to REBUY them (figuring that you still have the 2.5 million you got when you sold it) is 2.5 million...thats just over 4 hours. :)

Nope doesn't work because I had 100 Helicopters and sold one to check on this. Sure it gave me 2.5 million.BUT, the upkeep did not go down at all. I am still paying for the 100 instead of 99 I have left. We tried this before with other items but the Godfather leaves your upkeep at the same limit as before you sold anything. So I don't see how it saves you money...Had I read this in the beganing I would have only bought 20 for the mission. Now I am stuck with a high upkeep....

El Don D .....

Try selling a helicopter again.

If you sell any equipment, your upkeep goes down. This works with the helicopters also. I just purchased 20 helicopters to do the mission for the exoskeleton. My upkeep increased, then decreased once I sold the helicopters.
